Dr. Dick’s Chord Weaving Level 3

Chord Weaving Level 3 provides a comprehensive list of all possible chord changes for the six most common chord forms.

Level 1 introduces “weaving” the circle of fifths.

Level 2 introduces the concept of using multiple passes around extended circles of fifths.

Level 3 incorporating all chords into one table with one complete circle.

The new extended circle of fifths becomes this exhaustive list:

C               G               D               A               E               B               F#             C#            Ab             Eb             Bb             F

Am           Em           Bm           F#m         C#m        Abm         Ebm         Bbm         Fm            Cm           Gm           Dm

C7            G7            D7            A7            E7            B7            F#7          C#7         Ab7          Eb7          Bb7          F7

Am7        Em7        Bm7        F#m7      C#m7     Abm7      Ebm7      Bbm7      Fm7         Cm7        Gm7        Dm7

CM7        GM7        DM7        AM7        EM7        BM7        F#M7      C#M7     AbM7      EbM7      BbM7      FM7

Co             Go             Do            Ao             Eo             Bo             F#o          C#o          Abo          Ebo          Bbo          Fo

C+            G+            D+            A+            E+            B+            F#+          C#+         Ab+          Eb+          Bb+          F+

Begin by weaving the C chord and into the extended circle:

Then continue around this extended circle of fifths as in Level 2, moving through all combinations.

The full table contains all 7,056 possible chord changes, all possible changes without repeating a chord. All exercises from Levels 1 and 2 in the level 3 pattern.

After completing, integrate different forms of the same chord as substitutions, add jazz chords to your own lists, or incorporate picking patterns from Dr. Dick’s Pick Madness.

Another use for the table would be to work on certain chords by choosing their row or column and playing against other chords.
